How hair extension fittings should look ‘under the hood’
From a hair extension technician’s point of view, there are so many variables to take into consideration when doing a hair extension fitting. Each method is very different and it’s extremely important firstly that the correct method is used for the correct natural hair type to avoid damage.
Unfortunately, I see time and time again, poorly fitted extensions potentially on the wrong hair type causing clients discomfort and damage - which can be frustrating to see as more often than not, client’s are unaware of what is deemed a bad fitting. Extensions can look great from the outside, but what’s underneath is more important if you want your natural hair to stay healthy!
A few key things to look out for:
Clean and neat sections - no cross hairs
Enough natural hair in the section to be able to take the weight of the extension for at least 6 weeks (taking into consideration natural hair shedding during this period)
Bead/ Tape not too close to the head so that there is room for movement and not pulling
Nano ring tip not poking into the head
Placement and bead colour
